Workwear is something I don’t think I’ve covered on the blog before. However, as I’m talking about work more, why not! I work in digital marketing, which is a creative industry, driven by data and technology. As it’s marketing, and not corporate, we wear what we want! As I’m senior in my role, I wear smart-casual wear. Gone are the days I would wear my Jordan’s to work, I’ve swapped these for some Stan Smiths or on client meeting days, some block heels! My workwear style has evolved at the same pace as my career and the fast pace of the world of digital.
Today’s post features a typical outfit I would wear to work. Keeping is smart, but casual, with some power woman sass haha! I typically wear heels most days, and I will swap them on rotation depending on the day. So this is a typical client meeting look. If I’m working with a brand I actually buy from, then I will dress to impress. Working full time, and running a blog means I’ve had to up my game and look good at all times. So most of my workwear outfits have to transition to evening blogger events. Anyway, let’s get into the outfit!
Workwear & Vinyl
This outfit is something I wear on heavy rotation to work. A loose boxy blazer from Zara, a plain white tee from my loves ASOS, and usually, my Louis Vuitton Neverfull Bag. If I have a blogger event, I usually bring a small cross body bag and I have a pair of black mules I usually wear. Those shoes live in the office as well as two other pairs of heels. In addition, I have a desk mirror and a growing makeup collection at work. These are some of the things you have to do to fit a busy work schedule, with blogging and a social life.
Let’s talk about these vinyl trousers. Vinyl has been a solid trend for the last 2 seasons. They became the Fashion Week street fashion staple during fashion month, last year September 2016. I even styled a very similar look in a post called ‘Blazers & Black Vinyl Trousers’. This year this trend boomed. Designer brands such as Saint Laurent and Moschino had them. However, Top Shop’s red vinyl trousers became a huge hit, followed by ASOS’s version. I love wearing these! They bring the edge to a standard outfit which has become my uniform for work. These trousers work well with smart tailoring and look great with cosy knits, as I wore in my recent Instagram post.
I’m fortunate I work in an industry whereby I can still express my style and love for fashion. As I previously mentioned, my workwear style has really evolved with each stage of my career development. Looking for a team, client servicing and events means I now make more of a daily effort more than ever. I find a good balance between comfort and style wearing blazers, slogan tees and smart trainer styles. Block heels are comfy for travelling around London to client meetings. Blazers and smart tailoring, heels and a statement bag are my secrets to power dressing and feeling confident. Someone once said, “dress for the job you want, not for the job you have”. On that note, Happy Monday!
