You need to be proactive!
January was break time for me on the blog front. However, I was working on taking my career (day job) to the next level, to challenge myself with a new agency and working on new niches. If you’re new, I actually work in digital marketing and given the nature of the job (also being senior in my role), I have to be SUPER organised, and make use of the free time I have to work on the blog, edit videos and have a social life! So I’m going to explain 5 ways I keep going!
Job, The Life and the Side Hustle – 5 Productivity Tips
I used to think it was impossible to have a full-time job, and do other activities on the site such a blogging So I put it off for so long! You might want to start that nail business, but again you spend your weekends partying and sleeping – next thing you know it’s Monday! If P Diddy has the same 24 hours and 7 days a week as us all, then you can do it too! So here are 5 tips to increase proactivity:
1 – Planning and Organising – Write a list of everything you need to for the day. Plan your order of events and tasks based on whats convenient to do next and priority. Then tick off completed tasks as you go along. Make sure your calendar is always updated, and be disciplined with time allocated to tasks.
2- Exercise During the Day -Research has shown that midday exercise boosts productivity. It does this by releasing endorphins, helps with the quality of sleep and helps manage stress. Not only will you be exercising your body, you will exercise some discipline while getting more oxygen to the brain and organs.
3 – Identify and Remove Distractions – Everyone has their distractions, for it its Instagram and Whats App. Identify what you procrastinate with, and avoid! Make sure that your time is always accounted for in maintaining productivity. But don’t forget to allocate time to have fun.
4 – Taking Breaks – I cannot express to you how important this. Towards the end of last year, working till crazy hours, trying to keep up with the blog and the side hustle took its toll on me. As a result, I burnt out. Listen to your mind and your body. Your mental and physical health should be paramount so take a break, have a KitKat! I also speak about breaks in my previous post ‘The Secret To Bouncing Back’. In addition, you can’t always be working at optimum productivity, work during your most productive times and in short bursts.
5 – Gratitude – This is something I have been doing a lot lately. Take a minute to reflect on all the good things of the day, what God has done and what you plan to do. Keep a diary and remember your achievements. Practicing gratitude amplifies positive emotions, which helps us attract more positivity.
