Denim is probably one of the most worn fabrics in recent times, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you wore denim everyday! Jeans, denim shirts and denim jackets, have become the most pinnacle wardrobe staple. Double denim on the other hand, has often been considered a fashion risk, however it’s now become a solid fashion trend.

There are various ways to style double denim looks, and even mixing different colours and washes. Even though it may still be considered a risk, it’s still a popular off-duty look. Depending on how you choose to style it, shoes and accessories wise, it works for casual, and dressy occasions.

It’s been so cold over January, and most of February – with the sleet and snow we saw in London. I chose to style this look with my Top Shop coat, for the sheer warmth, and my Aquazzura Mira heels. If you read my latest post, ‘The New Classic White Shirt Approach’, I chose to wear my shirt in a similar way. I can’t get over how creative it is, and making sure you get the most wear out of your shirts. Admittedly, this is an old ASOS shirt that I was thinking to send to charity.

In terms of my personal style, I’m experimenting more with more ‘risky’ styles such as flares and this look. I’m definitely spending more selecting more classic pieces to wear, and investing more in quality over quantity. After numerous wardrobe clear outs, it’s my more high-street, fast fashion items that I waste the most money on. However, the more luxury pieces made from more durable, timeless fabrics have stood the test of time. Denim when made well is one of those items that you will have for years in your wardrobe.

As a curvy woman, buying the right type of jeans is so important. Brands which I have owned jeans from, and have been so impressed are Calvin Klein, Levi’s and Miss Sixty (from my uni days!). ASOS jeans for me, are the best high street alternative. I’ve had no problems with their jeans ripping or fitting poorly, which is excellent for the price point. I’m now keen to try J Brand denim. I tried on a pair over Christmas, and they fitted like a glove. The denim was just quality, and felt luxurious – so when I do get round to purchasing, I’ll let you know how I get on!
