In today’s post, I’m going to talk about high waisted jeans and denim trends of SS21. High-waisted jeans are my favourite style of jeans to wear! I don’t remember the last time I bought mid-rise or low-rise denim (very 90’s/ early 2000’s for me), and of course, high waisted jeans come in different leg styles. Straight leg jeans are one of the key denim trends this season, and obviously, I had to buy a high waisted pair! In today’s look, I present to you, my current favourite pair of jeans.
At the start of the spring-summer period is when we see the current denim trends, and I’m particularly enjoying Prada’s ready-to-wear denim collection as part of the Summer Collection SS21. This collection is inspired by 50s summertime’s romantic elegance, mixing denim and their Re-Nylon pieces. As usual, the ready to wear items are out of stock in my size, so I may have a gander in the boutiques in London. My birthday is coming up, so I will be treating myself, although I haven’t decided what yet. I will be sure to let you guys know, but for now, let’s get into this post!
High Waisted Straight Leg Jeans
This look is a basic off-duty or casual day in the office look for me (I work in digital marketing). I like this look because it’s simple, I can wear a range of footwear such as sandals or trainers, and jazz up the look for a meeting or evening drinks with some heels. A good pair of jeans, and a good white shirt, form the foundations of a basic capsule wardrobe and crucial wardrobe stables. In a previous post, I discuss why it’s important to invest in your basics, as these pieces never go in or out of fashion. You will always need a pair of jeans and a shirt!
These jeans are from ASOS, and they are straight leg high-waisted jeans. These are from their ‘Hourglass’ collection, so they are designed to fit a curvier woman or body. They fit better than other jeans I’ve bought in the past, which are usually designed for a straighter body shape, however, I’ve had them taken in a bit more since taking these pictures. This is mainly due to the fact your girl is between sizes with this weight loss, and I wanted my waist to look more snatched in them. I styled them with these toe thong heels, which are trendy at the moment also from ASOS and they come in a wide variety of colours. I’ve had a little obsession with green lately (more of this colour to come on the blog), so the shoes added that pop of colour to a fairly neutral outfit. The Pochette Metis from Louis Vuitton is a classic and it just makes the outfit overall look more expensive and chic.
I finished off this look with my current favourite pair of sunglasses from Bottega Veneta! I’ve been tempered to invest into more similar styles, with bigger gold logos such as the Versace ones. So let me know what you guys think about these! I hope you enjoyed today’s minimal effort look today, and let me know what type of jeans you have been loving and what denim trends you will be subscribing to!
