Layering your summer dresses is the perfect way to update your look this autumn. Especially when the weather is unpredictable as it is now, with the skies overcast and being cold one minute to hot the next. I mean what do you expect when you live in the UK? Layering is a great way to still pull of those summer looks, but also being prepared for the bi-polar weather. This is something I always like to do, especially as I like to get the most out of all my outfits. In addition, I hate being cold. I don’t mind being a little too hot, as it’s easier to remove layers than add them. As I love summer so much, every autumn and winter I always layer more than I wear knitwear.
Now I know you might be thinking, haven’t you already featured this dress on the blog? Yes you have, this is the same dress I wore in my recent blog post ‘Marrakech – Le Jardin Majorelle Yves Saint Laurent ‘, from my recent trip to Morocco. One thing I want to maintain on this blog is the restyle of outfits. Let’s face it, I don’t wear a new outfit everyday, and nor do I want to depict that the blog. Some weeks, I even repeat outfits because of shoots and events! What I am really good at, is remixing my outfits, to the point people ask me “is that new” haha! I may write a post about this. No matter how bright or bold something is, I will always make sure I have several ways to wear it.
Summer Dresses & Autumn Layering
This dress (if you’re new to my blog) is from ASOS, and it made the perfect holiday dress when I was in Morocco. I started layering my summer dresses mainly because some of the dresses I bought in the past, were way too short. For example the top I wore in my post titled ‘Off-the-Shoulder Dresses & Summer Layering’, the dress was a little to short for me (for obvious reasons) – so I wore it as a top. I guess when on holiday it can be a dress, but for the UK it’s a top haha! I also styled another off-the-shoulder top in my inspiration post ‘Changes You Need to Make to Be Successful’. Okay I may be a little obsessed, but you get the gist?
I chose to style this maxi dress with a pair of ASOS jeans, and some cobalt blue shoes from Office. Continuing the contrasting colour theme from my Marrakech post. The funny thing is, I actually shot this look the day before I flew out to Morocco, and this colour theme just continued. I love this look because it’s a little dressed up but on minimal effort. The the wrap waist brings you in at the waist, to flatter your silhouette, and the ripped jeans brings the edge to this outfit. I usually hate matching, so naturally I opted to pair this outfit with some colour popping shoes.
On the topic of shoes, I’ve suddenly bought a few pairs lately as I had forgotten how shoes can really change your outfit. I’m in a habit of wearing the same 4 shoes on heavy rotation back to back. This is simply because I’m a bag person, rather than a shoe person! I’ll be experimenting with laying more dresses, and slip dresses as the weather starts to get a bit cooler. Let me know what you think of this outfit, and stay tuned to see whats new on the blog!
