Marrakech has been a city I have long desired to visit. I’m glad I can finally tick this off my list, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip. If you’re looking for an adventure to a place full of colour, food and culture then Marrakech is great. However, this type of holiday is really what you make it.
Honestly speaking, not everyone enjoys it and it’s because not everyone knows what to do when out there. So it’s important to do your research before hand, and plan your itinerary in advance. We literally were living our best life on holiday, as we had a loose itinerary and met some people along the way who showed us around.
A little digression to say thank you for your patience, while I adjust back into the usual blog schedule. But lets get into what my Marrakech experience was like!

Marrakech – Le Jardin Majorelle
The Le Jardin Majorelle Yves Saint Laurent, was the location for this particular shoot. It’s such a beautiful tranquil peaceful place, and a must visit when you come to Marrakech. This cobalt blue is soo stunning, especially against the yellow. In places all over the city, they have this blue against the terracotta buildings, and I just find these colours so captivating. Another highlight about this garden is the array of cacti it has. Anyone who knows me well, will know how much I love cacti, so this would be my dream garden.
Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé bought the Jardin Majorelle in 1980, to save it from a building project in the area, and now houses the memorial of Yves Saint Laurent where his ashes were scattered. As you can imagine, not only is this place a top destination for tourists when visiting Marrakech, it’s also a hot spot for influencers and pictures!
The outfit was inspired by some of my favourite trends this summer, with the basket bag. I love the colour of this dress, the orange (or red) looks great against my skin. I love the contrast of colours in this post, and it’s left me so obsessed with this blue! When in hot temperatures, it’s important to find the best outfits for the heat. Morocco was so hot, on one of the days we were there it was like 41 degrees. So this airiness of this ASOS dress, and the fabric made it suitable. Another favourite holiday/ dinner dress was also from ASOS, featured in my recent post ‘Midi Dresses & Thigh High Splits’.

Discovering Marrakech
The hustle and bustle of the markets and souks is so exciting, and a great place to explore traditional Moroccan food, spices and traditional fashion. The narrow streets, and the thousands of motorbikes that pass through mean you have to be on the ball when going through the souks and the main square.
As we went during Ramadan (which we didn’t realise before hand), eating out during the day was difficult. You had to eat at tourist fast food spots such as McDonalds’, Burger King and KFC; unless you get room service from your hotel. Most restaurants opened at 6pm onwards for tourists. Our favourite places to eat were Comptoir Darna and another place called Kasbah Cafe. Comptoir Darna is great to get dressed up for and to enjoy the food and the buzzing atmosphere. It’s famous because of the live music and belly dancers. Kasbah Cafe is a great spot to go during the day, as the main eating area is on a cosy roof top serving traditional tagine in chicken or lamb, as well as having good veg options.
The night life was good, but because of the time we went a lot of places were closed or really slow. So we actually spent a lot of time at an outdoor bar at Sofitel, which is roughly a 5 min walk from Comptoir Darna. We discovered the place because we could hear good music haha, and just followed where the music was coming from.
During our stay we also did kamel ridding and quad biking. However, there was so much we wanted to do and see, but we would need more time. If you’ve been to Marrakech before, it would be great to know what you got up to, because I’ll be going back to the Atlas mountains and to visit Chefchaouen and much more.
