Hola Bienvenidos!
Okay I’ll be honest…my Spanish is very limited, so that will be all from me today haha!
So back during the last week of October, and into the beginning of November, I was in Cancun!
I’ve always wanted to go for the Spring Break period, however as I’ve got older it’s become less appealing. Anyway, me and Ruth, a good friend of mine, decided to go to Mexico during her half term (she teaches), so we booked everything and we were off!
It was a weird time to go on holiday as it’ more of a summer thing, but it was nice getting some proper sunshine as the weather began to get cold in London.
I loved everything about Mexico. We initially thought Cancun would be quiet or less lively as October – November isn’t their peak season. In case you were wondering, this period is their rainy season. It rained one day when we were out there and two evenings, but it didn’t disrupt the holiday so if you are thinking of going around this period go for it!
There is so much to do in Cancun! We went on a few excursions including a jungle tour, Isla Mujeres, swimming with dolphins and visiting Chichen Itza one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The jungle tour was actually a tour through a mangrove on speed boats, until you get to shallow waters to do snorkeling and see the reef. After this activity, we went on a tour in a submarine, which was a weird experience but fun all the same. This was an amazing experience, seeing the fishes and the underwater museum that has roughly about 300+ statutes.
Chichen Itza was great too! It was a city built by the Mayan people, and was a major focal point in the Northern Maya Lowlands. Our tour guide took us to local Mayan shops, and explored a town hall, and a church which was built from the bricks and ruins of a pyramid the Mayans were forced to destroy. It was interesting learning about their culture and beliefs, and it’s a tour I definitely recommend you do if you ever visit Mexico as well as the jungle tour.
The best part of our holiday in Mexico, apart from the food and unlimited tequila, was the people we met and relaxing on the beach sipping cocktails. Life got so busy this year, I didn’t have much time to really chill out and take a break. It’s always good when you have amazing company on holiday like my friend Ruth who was on the same page with me. I’m already thinking about the next destination for next year…Bali, Thailand, Cuba who knows but I need to book something soon.
Anyway! Thank you for reading my blog post about my holiday in Mexico, and keep an eye out for the next post!
Tash xx
