Midi dresses are my favourite type of dresses to wear during summer. With two holiday’s coming up, be prepared to see a lot of this on the blog. As much as a mini dress may look great, they just look like long tops on me. More recently, I’ve become more accustomed to wearing longer, loose dresses – and clothing in general. For me it’s an indication of my personal growth, acceptance and maturity.
I’ve been M.I.A for the past few weeks, and I’ve re-learned the value of taking breaks. However, taking an excessively long break isn’t great. A lesson learnt, especially when you’re trying to build up a readership and a following to your blog. I’ve remastered the art of ‘balancing your time’, and even though I’m doing a lot – I’ve made it work. Thankful for the sisters I pray with, and the friends that are supporting the hustle. Anyway, after my brief digression, lets talk about this beautiful dress from ASOS.
Midi Dresses & Confidence
When I was younger I always has a complex with wearing dresses, especially ones like this one. I felt big and frumpy, or like an ‘aunty’ if you like. Why? Because my hips were too big, along and other assets I have been endowed with. Over the years I grown to love my body, and love my shape. I have started wearing the dresses I thought didn’t suit me, and I wear them with confidence.
This midi dress is what I call conservatively sexy. The crop top overlay just flatters your silhouette, and the thigh high spilt adds the sass to what would be a simple dress. The off white colour makes it perfect for this transitional period, from spring fresh into summer. I styled the dress with my current shoe favourites from Malone Souliers, which go with everything. I even styled them in my last two looks on the blog, one of them being ‘Utility Chic & Malone Souliers’.
This dress is also available in three other colours, which is perfect if you’re going to be a wedding guest this year. I may cover a post giving you ideas of what to wear to a wedding, as I have 4 coming up, so I will definitely shopping outfits for the occasions. I will be back to my usual posting schedule of Monday’s and Thursday’s, so make sure to come back and see what’s next.
