Over-the-Knee sock boots are this seasons biggest footwear trend. Thanks to designer brands such as Balenciaga and Demna Gvasalia’s designs, and more recently Fendi taking the sock boots to thigh-high heights. The high street has responded with their own versions of the over-the-knee sock boot. What happens when this seasons boot trend meets this seasons colour trend? The red over-the-knee sock boot is born!
Fendi’s Rockoko boots are the major inspiration for today’s look, however the £1090 price tag is a little mental (being a bag lady). So Zara it was to save the day! I’m sure this trend will continue into next season, and probably become a Fashion Week staple item for a lot of fashionistas. Anyway, lets see what the next few months have in store!
Over-the-Knee Sock Boots Trend
So I have a love-hate relationship with boots, especially knee-high boots. I’ve often found that most brands make the calf area very tight. Meaning I would have to go a size so the boots fit my calves, or just to let it go simply. As a result, I haven’t had a pair of knee-high boots for so long. I remember being in TopShop once, a few years back, trying on a gorgeous pair of thigh-high suede boots – bluey-grey in colour. When I went to try them on, they got stuck at my calfs, and I was so confused. Even though I’m a size 12, all these ‘tall boots’ were made for skinny girls.
Fast forward a few years, here I am enjoying this seasons biggest trend, and simultaneously facing one of my insecurities…my chunky legs! I chose to style this look with a long oversized shirt, a skirt and a blazer jacket from COS. I’ve styled this jacket before on the blog, in my post about Luxury Wood Watches. Wearings hats are also big this season, especially the baker boy style.
Despite the colour of these boots being red, they are really versatile. Red is a statement colour, however is the perfect shade to add that pop of colour and personality to any outfit. I’ve since styled these boots with long autumnal dresses, with large split – and with a t-shirt dress and a denimim jacket. Rihanna was my inspo here! So despite these over-the-knee sock boots being load, they have found a good place in my wardrobe. Let me know if you would like me to do posts showing the various ways to style pieces.
