I initially came across the brand on ASOS, and Net-A-porter. Since then I’ve been become obsessed with how feminine and unique their collections are. Their jumpsuits and dresses are typically made from fine cottons, lace and crochet fabrics. As a designer brand, Self-Portrait is fairly accessible as their clothing doesn’t carry the big price tag typical of ready-to-wear from other designer brands. This skirt was one of the items I bought for my birthday, as well as a few other purchases.

I’m back to London in today’s post, if you haven’t been following me on my Instagram, I’ve been in Cuba. Sad to be back to the bi-polar weather we get in the UK, and back to work mode. Meanwhile, I’ve been working on some new things, and I can’t wait to share with with you guys. I know I say this all the time, but I do forget how important it is to take breaks. It’s been a useful period to refocus on life.

SELF-PORTRAIT Striped Crochet-Knit Midi Skirt

This Crochet-knit skirt is gorgeous! I’m not even sure I’m doing it justice, but I couldn’t say no when it appeared on the ‘New In’ section of Net-A-Porter. In case you haven’t noticed, I seem to be having a thing with midi skirts. In my recent post ‘Statement Skirts & Tropical Roof Gardens’, I also styled a beautiful high-waisted satin midi skirt. With colourful embroidery of a parrot on the skirt. I tend to go for midi skirts as I know it will actually look like a skirt on me. As opposed to a mini skirt, which usually looks like a belt on me for obvious reasons haha.

I chose to style this skirt with an old crop top from ASOS, my Aquazzura velvet Miria heels I love so much, and a leather jacket. This is my day-time, not too glam look, I would wear to drinks on a rooftop, or a champagne brunch. However, on this day, it was super cold and and I couldn’t wait to go home. I clearly thought it was still summer when it’s not. This skirt is one of those skirts that can be dressed up with heels and a nice top, or work casually with a t-shirt and espadrilles.

I can’t wait for what the next season has to offer! After catching up New York Fashion Week and seeing next seasons collection, don’t be surprised if you see more of the brand on the blog! Until next time!
