Monday’s Greetings!

I thought I would sprinkle some Monday inspiration, with yet another career and life goals orientated post. Hopefully this post will give you some Spring motivation!

Okay so back in January I wrote a post called New Year, New Goals, remember this? Talking about setting new achievable goals in 2016. In this post I will be touching on how you should assess your progress on the goals you set in the new year (if you did), and how to regain or maintain momentum in your quest of achieving these goals. It’s so easy to loose motivation in various areas of personal growth for many reasons. Hopefully I touch upon topics that you guys can relate to!

 Mid Way Point of the 6 Month Plan

Okay so from my New Year, New Goals post, I explained how I set myself 6 month plans, that contribute to overall yearly goals. I do this as it helps me maintain momentum in achieving these goals, and its just a more granular way to ensure that I complete X before I move onto Y. It also helps when you can ‘see’ yourself passing the mid-way points; a bit like when your running a race, and you know you have just past the 5K mark, and you have another 5K to go.

Now that we’re in spring, and into the 4th month of the year. Take some time out to assess your progress on your goals for the 6 months. Ask yourself the relevant questions…..”Whats taken me so long to complete this?”…”This didn’t work because of this, maybe I should try that”….”Do I need to do more research, before I pursue this”…and so on. Assess if these goals you set were actually SMART, and make amendments where you need to.

Be Proactive

This is a major key! You need to be proactive about achieving your goals, letting your manager know you deserve that pay rise or promotion, researching what the government has to offer to help you get on the property ladder etc. What ever your goals are this year, you need to go get it! If you don’t ask you don’t get, if you don’t knock on those doors, no doors of success will open for you and so on.

If it’s networking in an industry of interest, research events. If you want to learn something new, sign up to Lynda or get on another platform to help you. Don’t be shy, get out there and find out the information or the help you need. Just do it! Spark your own motivation.


Positive Thinking

Our words have power! This is something that many of us may take for granted. You as a person, and the things that you do, are a product of your thoughts. And what you think in your heart, is what comes out from your mouth as words. And it is these words that we speak, that determines our actions and what we do subconsciously. If you always think you’re not good enough in your heart to do something, you will never take the plunge!

Get into the winner mind set, have peace knowing that you can and you will. Speak words of positivity, and command your mornings. Make everyday great, and walk in confidence. “Never let sight block your vision”.

Motivation, How to Remain Driven

If you find it hard to stay motivated, I would recommend you try a few things:

  • Firstly, read books about your chosen areas of interest. This could be business, fashion and style etc…I always read business and digital media related books. I read about the latest techniques and methods. I also read about great entrepreneurs – especially female entrepreneurs. For example I read Forbes Women often, and I am always inspired by these strong women who are killing it in their felids. The first page I read in Stylist is the Work Life page, without fail.
  • Surround yourself with a good set of friends. Friends who are disciplined, motivated and driven. These  qualities will rub off on you. You know the saying…”birds of a feather, flock together”. Check if the people you are flocking with are on the same wave length as you. If not *spring clean*
  • Get yourself a mentor, especially if your plans or goals are big. It’s good to learn and get as much advice from experienced professionals, who believe in you, and will make time for you.
