The marvellous thing is that it doesn’t even have to go with the outfit. Well if it did, then it wouldn’t be a statement, would it? Big logos and hardware, monogram prints and oversized are what makes a statement belt. Last year saw some epic belts by designers such as Gucci, Versace and of course Off-White. To be worn with coats and jackets and as waist belts on dresses, this is a fresh way to accessorise your outfit.

Now I’m a big believer in power dressing with what I call power accessories. This basically means that your accessories pop and make the statement. This could be wearing a brightly coloured bag with a muted outfit, or fury shoes, embellishment or a crazy but fashion print for example. It’s a more contemporary way of power dressing which doesn’t involve tailored separates. Check out my previous post about ‘power accessories’. This is totally off topic, however, this post is the 100th post to go live on my blog! *Pops champagne*.

Off-White Canvas Industrial Statement Belts

Off-White is a brand I have been following since last year. Originally launched in 2014 by Virgil Abloh, the brand is influenced by popular youth culture as current. Off-White gate crashed my fashion radar last year with this belt! However, I held back from buying it as the first iteration of the belt had a plastic buckle which out me off. I knew I would be mad if it broke! But the new metal buckle is much more practical, so I made the purchase.

The belt is designed to look like industrial construction tape, it’s extra long length allows for it to be styled and wrapped in numerous different ways. The idea is to have the end of the belt long on the body. So if over shirt, then you can double wrap it around, or single wrap over a large jacket. It’s available in a range of colours, but the yellow one stands out the most for me. This belt is a statement, and I love how it makes a contrast to your outfit. Statement belts, as man repelling as they are set to be a growing trend. Especially with the bring back to 90’s inspired big logos like we saw with Gucci and Fendi.

I styled the Industrial Canvas belt with an old-school wardrobe favourite of mine from Ralph Lauren. This military coat I’ve had for about three years now, and I always get so many questions about it. This is mainly because it’s not an obvious Ralph Lauren piece. I love jackets like this as they always come back into fashion, with 90’s style military, cargo and camo being a key trend this season.
