Statement skirts I think might be my new thing this summer. I’ve always had a complex about wearing skirts which were a little extrovert, simply because of my body shape. Anything floaty or loose would look mumsy on me I felt, so for this reason I always wore tight pencil skirts. However, more recently I’ve became more comfortable in my style. Now I don’t mind wearing loose or floaty skirts, as I did in my ‘Accountable by Influence’ post, and now this one. I’ve always had issues with my body shape, and the type of clothes I would like to wear, vs what actually suits me. I know I shouldn’t, but I guess we all have our insecurities.

After a long lazy break from the gym, I’m finally trying to get back in shape. I’ve already seen the difference, and feel more comfortable in what I wear. I always feel talking about weight is a risky subject, however I believe people should do what’s right for them. I know what I looked like two years ago vs now. My clothes haven’t changed much, but lets put it this way, its not fitting the same! Anyway, my intention is to loose a little weight. However I mainly want to be more active and healthy. Just investing in me basically. So after that digression, lets talk about statement skirts.

Statement Skirts x ASOS Occasionwear

This beautiful skirt is from my beloved ASOS. It’s so funny because at least one item in most of my looks is from ASOS. Mainly because of how easy it is to shop, and convenient if you spend most of your time working. This is a total ASOS look, with the top from the ASOS WHITE collection. I also styled this wrap top in my previous post ‘Utility Chic & Malone Souliers’.

I love everything about this skirt. It’s made from a light satin fabric, loose fitting with intricate detailing on the front, of an embroidered parrot on some flowers. Really colourful and perfect for my up and coming holiday’s. As the material is lightweight, it can be less forgiving at times. When I initially saw this skirt on the website, I thought the model looked a little too small for the skirt – so I almost didn’t buy it! So I’m glad I took the plunge. Brands to buy statement skirts from: ASOS OccasionwearGucci, Self Portrait, H&M and Marco De Vincenzo.

I’ve had a lot of questions about these sunglasses too. These are my Chloé Carlina round-frame sunglasses. I am in love with these, and have forced them with every outfit. I have never been so obsessed with a pair of sunglasses like this before. They are very 70’s boho like, which I guess is the inspiration behind the brand, and they just add another dimension to your look. They glasses really completed this look, and loved how it complemented this statement midi-skirt and wrap shirt look.
